West Tennessee & Eastern Arkansas to Get New VA Outpatient Clinics
Jackson, Tennessee
The Department of Veterans Affairs recently announced it will establish a new community based outpatient clinic in Jackson, Tennessee. Jackson is located in Madison County, Tennessee, and is 88 miles northeast of the Memphis.
The Memphis VA Medical Center will serve as the parent facility of VA's newest clinic.
- VA employees will staff the new clinic which will serve eligible veterans in and around Jackson.
- This location will save veterans a 90-minute drive to the Memphis VA Medical Center for routine procedures.
VA already has two clinics in the Memphis area, and three contract clinics located in –
- Smithville and Byhalia, Mississippi
- Jonesboro, Arkansas
- Savannah, Tennessee
"We're very excited to be able to provide even better service to the veterans in the eastern end of our service area," said Patricia O. Pittman, Director of the Memphis facility. The clinic should be operational before October 1, 2008.
Bolivar, Tennessee; Dyersburg, Tennessee; Helena, Arkansas
VA Memphis has also received approval for three additional contract clinics located in Bolivar and Dyersburg, Tennessee, and Helena, Arkansas. These clinics are scheduled to open in Fiscal Year 2009 (before December 31, 2008).
