Memphis VA Medical Center Makes Joint Commission’s 2012 List of Top Performers
MEMPHIS, TN – The Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) in Memphis, Tennessee has been named among the 620 hospitals Top Performers on Key Quality Measures in Improving America's Hospitals: The Joint Commission Annual Report on Quality and Safety 2012. These 620 hospitals represent approximately 18 percent of more than 3,300 Joint Commission accredited hospitals reporting core measure performance data.
The report recognizes these hospitals as leading the way nationally in using evidence-based care processes closely linked to positive patient outcomes. The Memphis VAMC was recognized in the areas of Heart Attack, Heart Failure, and Pneumonia.
"VA Memphis has been working very hard to improve the quality of care we provide our Veterans," said Chief of Staff Christopher R. Marino, M.D. "This recognition by the Joint Commission is testament to that effort, which is ongoing in many different areas of patient care."
The 2012 annual report and this year’s top performers are being announced by the Joint Commission to national and trade media on September 19, 2012.
