Memphis, Tennessee – The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center, is co-sponsoring the Project Homeless Connect Stand Down on Thursday, October 15, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Cook Convention Center located at 255 North Main Street, Memphis, TN 38103. The event is designed to connect Veterans experiencing homelessness to housing and other resources that can assist them in meeting their daily needs.

Services to be rendered include:

  • Health and Dental Evaluations
  • Vision Screenings
  • Mental Health Services
  • HIV/AIDS Testing
  • Veterans Benefits
  • Employment Services
  • Legal Assistance
  • Housing Counseling and Referrals
  • Medicaid/Food Stamps
  • Haircuts
  • Donated Goods
  • Substance Abuse Services
  • Along with the Department of Veteran Affairs, other participating agencies include the Tennessee Department of Labor, Memphis Housing Authority and Housing and Community Development, Shelby County Community Service Agency, University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Hospitality Hub, Southern College of Optometry, Styles by Chance, and Empire Beauty School. Event sponsors include Community Alliance for the Homeless, Buckman Laboratories, City of Memphis Government, Shelby County Government, Baker Donaldson Technologies, Baker Donelson Law Firm, Federal Express Corporation, and Holiday Ham and Deli.
